Runt Works Fryin Ryan
Fryin’ Ryan has been wreaking havoc since his debut on Garbage Pail Kids card #54a back in 1985.
Looking like he crawled straight out of a barrel of nuclear waste, Ryan is covered in scales and spikes, with a massive tail and enough radioactive rage to level an entire city. Buildings are his playthings, and the people running for their lives? They're just an all-you-can-eat buffet. Even his card number, 54, feels like a cheeky nod to the original Godzilla movie from 1954.
After decades of terrorizing GPK cards, including countless reprints and special editions, this radioactive menace is finally stepping off the card and into the real world as the second release in Polyphony’s Runt Works series.
And we weren't about to simply turn a flat illustration into a 3D figure. We wanted to have a little fun with it.
Ryan's enormous mouth is wide open, revealing rows of razor-sharp teeth ready to crunch through concrete. In his right hand, he's clutching one unlucky kid who's about to become an appetizer. Tucked under his left arm is a crumbling building, now serving as his personal lunchbox. Meanwhile, a chubby little boy and a girl have managed to survive the destruction, only to find themselves frantically forming a human ladder in a desperate attempt to escape.
All that monster-sized mayhem, packed into just 2.5 inches of Sofubi.
And just like our first Runt Works release, Disgustin’ Justin, we invited artist Onoglish back to create a custom, double-sided illustrated header card. Taking inspiration from the original GPK artwork, he takes Ryan's story a little further, imagining what might be happening beyond the edges of the card.
Small toy. Monster appetite.
